Autonomous Air Traffic Monitoring System
Spec Legacy developed an Autonomous Air Traffic Monitoring System in collaboration with a space agency for next-generation urban air mobility. This R&D project addresses the future challenge of managing airspace when flying vehicles, air taxis, and personal drones become commonplace in urban environments. The system integrates Velodyne VLS-128 LiDAR sensors with calibrated RGB camera systems to detect and classify aerial vehicles including drones, air taxis, and small aircraft. Our custom sensor fusion algorithms combine 3D point cloud data from LiDAR with visual information to achieve accurate detection and tracking in complex urban environments, providing the foundational technology for future automated air traffic control in dense, multi-layered urban airspace.
AI Analytics for Satellite Imagery
Spec Legacy delivered a suite of custom computer vision models that provide actionable intelligence from satellite imagery for defense and disaster-response clients. In environments where timely and accurate information is mission-critical, this platform automates the analysis of vast amounts of geospatial data. We developed a pipeline of custom AI models using TensorFlow and Python, each trained for specific high-stakes tasks including automated mine detection from aerial views, on-the-fly ortho-map generation from raw satellite feeds, and rapid pre/post-event damage assessment by comparing chronological images. The system solves the human limitation of manually scanning thousands of square kilometers of imagery, providing rapid insights that can save lives and protect assets while dramatically enhancing situational awareness for strategic decision-making.
Graph OCR for Well Log Digitization
Spec Legacy architected a multi-stage computer vision pipeline to automatically digitize and interpret legacy raster-based well logs for geological analysis firms. Our sophisticated two-phase solution converts non-machine-readable scanned images into the industry-standard LAS format, ready for modern computational use. In Phase 1, a U-Net model performs semantic segmentation to isolate log curves, an SVM refines the data, a YOLO model detects the header region, and OCR extracts the metadata. In Phase 2, the newly digitized data is analyzed to automatically classify geological materials against a predefined legend, adding intelligent interpretation to raw data. This automated workflow unlocks vast archives of previously inaccessible geological data, reducing digitization time from several days to under an hour per well log.
Urban Guard Smart City Traffic Solution
Spec Legacy developed Urban Guard, a smart city platform designed to make traffic and city management effortless by addressing urban congestion and inefficient service coordination through real-time, AI-driven insights. The system utilizes a network of cameras to capture live video feeds of traffic flow, processed by a sophisticated computer vision pipeline that detects and classifies vehicles, monitors traffic density, and identifies incidents like accidents or violations in real-time. The aggregated data is presented on a central dashboard, providing city operators with comprehensive overview and actionable analytics for traffic management.
